Week 3: Greybox Test

We continued development of the environment, scaling everything to a realistic size. Our main concern by this point was the level design itself, and how to make it an engaging player experience with this type of layout – there were lots of flaws that needed improvement. Some features were added for parkour elements, such as shelves, lights, and more furniture, and the walls were brought in to alleviate negative space. The rat tunnel was also heightened to the top of the kitchen cabinets for better elevation.

The player character, the rat 3D model, was finished – UV unwrapped, textured, with only a few tweaks left on the overall design to make, ready for animations and implementation next week. Some people also came and playtested for us in the computer labs, which gave us a good inclination to play feel and bugs.
