Story
Gameworld
The Dragon Empire was originally one unified Empire, but it split into three different countries named after the three types of Dragons, Masbaalis, Xuharo and Shimgor. 454 years ago it split, having been a worldwide force that lasted around 1,000 years.
It had colonised a host of countries including most of the (Dragon continent) as well as Hotataiya Bhoora and Pareeatai, the two fairy nations (centuries ago, there had been many more fairies and fairy nations, but they were pushed back into Hotataiya and Pareeatai).
They have had a tumultuous relationship with humans, fighting with them for land for centuries. 75 years ago, the human Prince of Isotum Lara (who also presides over Mainesboren and Menuss Lara) married the Princess of Shimgor Dhulra, the most powerful monarchy in the Dragon Lands, further separating them from Masbaalis Dhulra and Xuharo Dhulra.
This was controversial, many wanted to bring back the Dragon Empire, brought back a level of distrust between Shimgor versus both Mabaalis and Xuharo. (This was intentional on the part of Isotum Lara to further weaken the most powerful Dragon Nations and neutralise a threat as well as gain pull in Shimgor, as well as resources and information on the Golden Stretch).
69 years ago was the Hotataiya Bhoora war against Xuharo Dhulra.

Narrative
Maxi is forced out of his home town when his mother is arrested, and Maxi is considered a fugitive. The player spends the game learning why Maxi’s mother was arrested and where Maxi came from. The last thing his mother gave him was a mysterious heirloom which she never explained.
He discovers on the train to Fammentimlinse, trying to evade the police, that this heirloom unlocks a magical potential within him, allowing him to shapeshift and channel the abilities and attributes of those he befriends.
The police have mistaken him for an influential rebel leader, and dedicate a team to finding him.
In Fammentimlinse, Maxi meets Jyme and Monas of Engaigne’s Magicari Miracles, a semi-popular magic shop that became well-known for being one of the few Magicari shop run by humans which specialise in bespoke spells for customers at a cheaper price (most Magicari shops are run by fairies and are generally distrusted because of it). Jyme, the fairy behind the success of Engaine’s Magicari Miracles, helps Maxi to understand and use these unfamiliar shapeshifting powers. Jyme, having grown up in Aaphait Tivu, is much more familiar with fairy magic than most fairies in Mainesboren and the rest of the human world. Most fairy magic is illegal, especially shapeshifting, meaning most fairies living there have very little connection to their culture and magic.
While staying with Jyme and Monas, it becomes increasingly apparent that he would soon have to leave, noticing people watching him. Maxi meets Georgia of Stellars Circus, which was in town doing a show. Georgia suggest that Maxi temporarily joins her within the travelling Circus to lose the attention of the police. However, Mr. Beere, the Ringmaster, is hesitant to bring Maxi on board but reluctantly agrees. At this point, popular singer, Afait, declares that he will join the circus. Maxi ends up travelling with the circus where some members welcome him, and others shun him.
Maxi has to learn to live without his mother and finally question his upbringing while living in a completely new environment, struggling to adapt until he is able to make connections with characters within the circus.
While travelling, Maxi takes on more and more responsibilities, completing puzzles before and during Circus performances in order to make sure that the performance continues perfectly. Getting to know the other members of the circus and citizens that he meets travelling, he collects new gems for his heirloom, allowing him to shapeshift into them and use their abilities in order to help complete puzzles for performances. They travel throughout Mainesboren, travelling first to Oteschale and Tumburg, and into Menuss Lara to Neimalsbewchen and Flusslin.
While travelling, Maxi notices more and more, the way that Mr Beere treats the fairies working in the Circus as one by one they all leave. It becomes apparent that, although the fairies draw in an intrigued audience, they also bring protests, drawing the eyes of the police and local government. This comes to ahead in Spröderschild, where Maxi discovers that Mr. Beere has been selling the fairies in his circus to wealthy families as Mr. Beere was accosted by a man angry that a fairy had escaped. After confronting Mr. Beere, he’s threatened by the police and has to escape, helped by Adinya, one of the fairies. Adinya introduces him to a group of fairies that used to work in Stellars Circus, and they plan to put on a show in competition to Stellars. Mr. Beere attempts to disrupt the show, but they prevail, and the members of Stellars Circus force Mr. Beere out, welcoming the fairies back in, and Diya takes over as Ringmaster.
Humans
Humans mainly live in the countries in blue, the most important being Isotum Lara, Mainesboren, and Menuss Lara. These countries have been mostly inspired by European countries like Germany, the Netherlands and England.
Humans as a species are much less attuned to magic naturally, and many human majority counties have banned most magic, especially any magic associated with Fairies, like shapeshifting. Mainesboren has a much more liberal attitude towards magic, being the most advanced country in magic education with the notorious Oteschale University.
Dragons
Dragons have three main sub-species, being Hyakon, Shimgor and Masbaalis. All Dragons have no visible ears, eyes with slit shaped pupils, tails and they are also digitigrade, with clawed hands and feet, although height and skin-tone can differ greatly.
Hyakon Dragons are typically the tallest, being around 223cm-326cm. They typically have a grey-purple skin tone and have a stockier build, and shorter tails. Many have protruding lower canines.
Shimgor Dragons are around 217cm-290cm in height, while most don’t have wings, some do, a trait associated with royalty. They have leathery red, orange or yellow skin, and typically have a head and tail covered in large red feathers.
Masbaalis Dragons are around 190cm-243cm, typically much thinner noses and tend to be lean. They have larger eyes and pale green or yellow skin.
Fairies
A lot of Fairy society and culture has been destroyed, and the effects of the Dragon occupation of Pareeaitai and Hotataiya Bhoora as well as the expansion of the Golden Stretch forced many to become refugees, escaping the Dragon army through the Golden Stretch. Many tried to settle on the land to the east of Wagrorus, but the conditions proved too treacherous, forcing them into countries like Wagrorus and Maineboren, where distrust and persecution would keep them in poverty.
Most Fairies are around 85cm-108cm, and like Dragons, they are also digitigrade, moving much quicker than humans. Their eyes are usually very large and black. Many humans and Dragons distrust their black eyes, as it is hard to tell where they are looking. They are also distrusted because of the nature of their magic, as shapeshifting is considered inherently suspicious, although culturally, most fairies value truth and rules very highly. Fairies have very pale skin, with a green or yellow undertone, and can look iridescent in certain lights.
