For the background music, I wanted simple rhythms and melodies, like a piece a beginner just learning an instrument could play. I used GarageBand on the phone and played the rhythm by hand, so there would be noises or inaccurate beats present. Also, I added white noise from an empty room (consisting of the sound of my computer fan and the alert sound of a broken fire alarm) to make this melody sound recorded more casually.
The main melody is only four bars and eight beats, and the whole piece is a loop of those four bars. So the length of the music piece can be adjusted as much or as little depending on how long the game is going on.
UI Sounds:
Sound for switching pages
Sound for putting the puzzle together
Sound for the calico cat (in special circumstances)
Since the prototype of the game was created from PowerPoint, adding UI sounds was very simple. However, the original sounds in the PowerPoint were too loud and shrill for the depressing atmosphere I wanted for this game, so I searched for more sounds that fit the setting and added them to the prototype.
