The name of the school is actually the name of my in-progress worldview, again a world set in a school, so I just take the name and use it as an extra scene for my own.
殊潭 (ShuTan), in Chinese, is the result of two words being disassembled and put back together again. 殊 (shu) comes from the Chinese word for special (特殊), and 潭(tan) is a homophonic character for kwaidan a Japanese concept of ghost story or horror story) in Chinese, which I chose because it’s the same word as the street my house is on.
Also, the word 潭(tan) actually represents a pond if don’t look at its harmonic meaning. That’s why I chose the line representing water for this school’s logo. In this way, the school logo also becomes straightforward, only needing two colours, black and white, in line with the overall art concept。

Most Chinese school logos are round, so at first, I chose a round template as well. The image in the middle represents water in a pond, but since I wasn’t too happy with the logo it was eventually discarded.

From these references, many school logos in China are circular, but school logos in other countries have roughly two images, a graphic school logo and the use school name as the logo, from this, I refer to the effect of combining the graphic and the name to form my school’s logo.
