Finding games

Prior to the lecture we were given a survey on which game idea we liked the most and which role we would like to do for the games. I Choose Lament, 19-09-26 and Genevieve and the role of 2D artist.

Game name : Lament

Lament is a roguelite journey through the five stages of grief; overcoming Denial, Anger, Bargaining, and Depression to reach Acceptance. Each stage presents hauntingly beautiful unique challenges and environments, symbolising emotional obstacles and growth. Survive, adapt, and ultimately find peace in a quest toward healing and acceptance.

Why this game : I decided to pick Lament as one of my games Id like to work on because I loved the designs Anna made especially the bosses. Plus the emotional journey the protagonist goes through to find peace.

Game name : #19-09-26

Songrui’s overview : ” Players take on the role of a Chinese high school student searching for her missing only best friend, a small calico cat, in the dark campus. During the search for the cat, players will find that parts of the once-familiar campus seem to be missing, and after piecing together the broken pieces of the campus, some vague flashbacks of memories appear. These clues all point to one place in the end, which is the player’s final destination. “

Why this game : I liked the decision Songrui did with the art style : keeping it only black and white and what her game was try to express to the audience.

Game Name : Genevieve

Genre: Psychological horror, point-and-click adventure and dress up game

Gabrielle overview : Players control Genevieve, an ambitious young woman in the late 1950s from a small American town known for its livestock industry and the daughter of a second-generation immigrant, who moves to Los Angeles to pursue fame. Discovered by the manager of a record company, John Warriner, she quickly rises to stardom. However, as her popularity grows, a younger rival, Angelie, begins to outshine her, fueling Genevieve’s jealousy and paranoia. Despite initial success, her career and mental state begin to unravel as she struggles with her fading fame and the pressure of competition.

Why Gabrielle game idea : I wanted to do Gabrielle’s idea because I love her game character designs and the whole late 1950 theme. Especially with what she was inspired by her art I’d love to try be the character designer for her game. It also reminds me of the type of dress up games I used to play on Friv , gogirlgames.
