This is one of the many enemy concepts that wasn’t implemented in the game because we didn’t have time to implement it so we cut it out.
While discussing about enemies our team decided that it would interesting to make 3 enemies that was for the depression realm only. It was up to me to design and make concepts of these new enemies.
After reviewing my mood board and Anna’s Pinterest board I thought of what creature lives in wet environment and immediately thought of a leech.
Character profile : Lurm
My concept: like a leech feeding on blood, this enemy reflects the sense of being constantly drained. It’s designed to resemble a parasite that sucks away your determination. If Lurm hits the protagonist, he will deliver less damage and bleed for a few seconds. While the Lurm is more vulnerable and killable than the other enemies, it has a faster spawn rate and can quickly overwhelm the player.
- Shape : long and slimy similar to a worm but with a huge mouth full of teeth’s like a leech
- texture : Smooth and slippery
- colour : dark blue tones and reds
- motion : moves quickly and attacks with its mouth

1st iteration

- This was my first go at pixel art, while I liked the look when discussing it with my team we realized the aspect was wrong therefore I had to make another bigger version.
2nd iteration
canvas size : 32×18
- This was the 2nd look, I’m happy that it resembles a leech and with the coloring when showing my teammates after lecture they were happy with the overall design as well.


Survey : These are the questions I sent out to get peer feedback with the final pixelated design of Lurm.



After receiving feedback, I will make one more iteration using the current palette because I noticed in the feedback that even though my thoughts were conveyed along with the overall enemy fitting in with the wet and cold environment, so it’s not of place from the depression realm. I believe there is a possibility of making this design better. Since one of the major scare factors of this design is the worm like and teeth features. I’ll make one more iteration where the Lurm has a more wormy like animation.
3rd iteration

This was the 3rd look after receiving feedback, I made sure the Lurm has a more worm like features especially in the movement.
