Dating sim game?
- Dating sims are games in which the player develops a love relationship with a character from the game. The goal is usually to form a relationship with a character you like and progress through the story’s events. Dating sim games typically feature anime-style graphics and exaggerated narratives to create a more engaging narrative.
- Romantic video games are still a popular genre because players grow to love and identify with the in-game characters. Johnson Et al (2002) states, “Video games allow players to interact not only with human players but also with virtual characters” Because of the interactions, these games might feel more personal to players as they form deeper bonds with the game’s characters.
Why dating sim game?
- I used to play these types of games with friends and enjoyed developing my characters and the game’s storyline. However, all of these dating sim games portray each candidate as ideal romantic partners. I believe that would be a more interesting take. If I could create a more realistic/horror version, not all dates are as perfect as they appear.
How?
- I intend to conduct research on the specific types of boy characters used in dating simulators, read game reviews, ask friends if they’ve had horrible dates in the past, and use real-life examples of people going too far on dates.
