In the first two weeks, I thought about the games I enjoyed most when viewing/playing and created a few mind maps in which direction/genre I wanted to go. In the end, I came up with three ideas to go with.

Initial idea mind-map – Life & Death
I focused on the keywords of life and death in this mind map. I was interested in creating a game about life and death and initially thought of developing a character for life and death and immediately got inspiration from the game character ‘Kindred’.So then I also looked into which animals signified life and death, This way I thought I could create a creature composed of various animal components. I also decided to explore the Hindu Goddess ‘Kali’, who represents destruction and death, as well as the Book of Life figures ‘La Muerte’, who represents the god of life, and ‘Xibalba’, who represents the god of death. To help me create a design of life and death.

Initial idea mind-map – dates
In this mind map, I was inspired by ‘Lacy games’. In this ‘normal’ dress-up game, you play as ‘Lacy’ and dress her up until events take a malicious turn and she is being stalked. Almost every ending of the game results in an unhappy ending for Lacy. In-depth, it demonstrates that regardless of what Lacy is wearing, she is being pursued throughout nearly the entire game. This even leads to her breaking the fourth wall and attempting to connect with the player to prevent the player from letting her leave, even pleading for help. I was also inspired by the week 1 games ‘A Woman Goes to a Private Games Industry Party, Rosa Carbó-Mascarell’.In the game, she describes her conversation with guys at a gaming industry party, where she is either stopped, asked inappropriate questions, or has her emotions invalidated. I, too, want to make a game of my encounters and raise awareness. I would show this in the dates, with 1 being awful and 3 being the worst.

Initial idea mind-map -ex-streamer
It is a parasocial game where you used to be a famous ex-streamer and one day you run into a fan who recognises you and coincidentally is your neighbour. You continue seeing them almost too regularly since that day and you happen to catch a glimpse of their room to find images of you plastered all over his room and the fan notices this. Your then-only goal is to escape. I thought this concept would be an interesting take to portray the dynamic between an obsessed fan and an ex-streamer and show awareness.
Reflection :
I want my game to have an interesting art style appearance and to have the player go through and endure similar experiences of realistic events that women go through by taking advantage of real-life terrible occurrences and raising awareness via them. Another thing I’d want to add to the game’s style is a few similarities to ‘Lacy games’ while also taking an original stance to some of the visuals.
