Survivor camp: version 2

Using feedback from my survey, I improved the design of the survivor camp. This is just the first update, there are a few more updated versions to come. I was unable to add everything I wanted in just one update as we had to get the background ready for the playtest, so I did what I could in that time.

The camp looks much more populated in the updated design as it now contains the resource camps (Link at bottom of post), however there are other additions to the camp, taken from my survey feedback. These include:

  • Ash from the rocket jet propulsion around the launchpad
  • More details inside the camp – scrap piles.
  • More contrast – The tower has been made redder, and shadows increased to make the sun look bright and hot.
  • Added shading to water – the colour was too bright leading to responders thinking it was snow.
  • Fence details made clearer – shapes are easier to tell apart, and darker colours used to create more depth.

Further changes that need implementing:

  • More details to be added inside and outside the camp:
    • Sleeping camps
    • Trash, fungus and rocks outside the camp
    • Pollution in the water
    • Launchpad details – wires ect
  • Camp walls to be fortified:
    • Fence made taller and stronger – thicker and supported from behind.
    • More guard posts to be added around the perimeter.
  • Scale down bollards, add more defensive stuff outside the front gate.
  • Water to look less like snow.
  • More emphasis on bright sunlight, especially on the resource camps.
