Week 10 – Last updates

Logo design

Inspirations:

I started with this design to map out the basic lettering. I wanted fluid and bouncy looking letters with a natural style. I chose a cream and dark blue colour.

Here I experimented with colour in the design, I liked the addition of the flowers but felt there was too much going on around the word ‘Grove’ so I decided to dial it back a bit. I also felt that the light purple flowers were too grey looking, so I adjusted their colour.

I removed a lot of the additional green and colour, and added more dimension to the lettering. I also added some yellow and shading to the background to increase the contrast, and i made the sun a more vivid colour.

I had to slightly adjust the sizing of the logo so this is the version on my WordPress header. I think if I was going to change anything about this logo, I might use a lighter background so it doesn’t feel too overwhelming. Overall I am pleased with this design though.

Floristry videos research

Some video examples of how flowers are prepared and arranged.

Artwork

Town centre – The town centre consists of old brick buildings and cobbled stone floors, old lampposts and yellow glowing light. This illustration is inspired by my essential experience, and reference images of Winchester and Parisian cafes.

I used dithering to add depth to shaded areas, and layered on top low opacity yellow areas to give the impression of glowing light. I filled the top layer with a bright yellow and lowered the opacity nearly completely to give the whole environment a warm and inviting feel.

Flower pixel design – I had to test whether flowers looked realistic enough using pixel art. This is how it looked on a 300 x 300 pixel canvas, which was my favourite size. The flower looks realistic enough while having a fun artistic style.

Updated Pinterest board
