About Me

Welcome to my WordPress, here you’ll find the documentation of semester 1 and 2 projects for my 2nd year.

A little bit about me :3

Hi! My name is Paula and I’m a British-Filipino, aspiring concept artist. I am passionate about telling a story through a character’s design, creating thumbnails for environments, and bringing ideas to life through visual details. As a young girl, drawing wasn’t something that interested me too much until I stumbled across a watercolour artist called Qing Han (@qinni on ig) and gave me the inspiration to start taking art more seriously. Artists that have greatly influenced my style are Par0lell, Ariimaw, and Masamuno (also on ig).

When I’m not occupied with work, I like to play instruments such as piano and the uke. I love to cook (unauthentic) Chinese food, casual water colour painting with my partner, and making doodles of me and my partner.

Introduction To This Project

In this project we were given complete freedom. This module will test my communication skills, industry professionalism, developing personal improvement mythologies and generating ideas that challenge the existing notions of games design.

As an aspiring concept artist, I want to continue to expand my skills in art and what pulls the player to a design whether that be for the character or environment. Additionally, I hope to improve my ability to tell a story through a design well enough so a player knows when they’re in a perilous environment, when they bump into an amicable character or pick up an important object that will help them in the story. I am more of an artist member, that being said, I’m not looking forward to code or make a prototype for my game, however, this is a necessary step for my journey as a games designer; even simple lines of code will be of great use to me in my journey.

In this blog, I will document my thoughts, developments, small failures and processes.
