Week 12 – Staff Feedback

After going through both my notes and GDD with Sophie and Vanissa, I re-evaluated what my next priorities to add were. For example:

  • Concept Art, including colour palettes and annotated moodboards with relevant artists in my GDD concept art page. This would also include a list of “object” assets that need to be made, as well as samples of things like level backgrounds.
  • Game loops and diagrams in the GDD gameplay page.
  • More content like diagrams, videos etc in blogs and GDD pages.
  • Going back and adding content to existing blog posts, rather than trying to add everything in new posts.

My first priority was my concept art. I first created another blog post of an artist profile on Joshua Davis as a primary inspiration, which can be found here. As for my GDD, I started to include more of the images that inspired me for certain characters and settings. For example, for the main character one of the inspirations is Paul Hwang’s Nanospore design series after being reminded of the creative work he did for Microsoft Windows at the time, and this is something I included as part of that moodboard for the GDD.
Full understanding of influences and their context on my game’s art style is vital for me on this project, so all the moodboards in my GDD will be properly annotated and attributed, and I will also provide links to my research notes on some of the artists as a reference.

I also created a flowchart for the general game loop on the Gameplay page of my GDD:
