Week 11 – Final Showcase

On the 8th of May, we showcased our final projects in the school cafeteria and invited everyone to play them. The event was public so people from outside also had the opportunity to participate.

I’m quite satisfied with the final effect of our project, though it still could use some polishing if we were to publish it. Some minor bugs occurred, such as character headshots stacking up on each other and covering the option buttons. The love meter had a small visual issue but was fully functional and the buttons still require fixing.

This time we didn’t prepare a feedback form, as this was supposed to be the final showcase but we did get some tips on how we could still improve on what we have. Some of the playtesters seemed to have trouble figuring out where to press when the mobile popped up on the screen and the way to solve that could be to highlight the message icon.

Overall, I’m satisfied with what we managed to make throughout this semester and I think all the other groups did amazing as well. I playtested all available games and found them entertaining in different aspects – Oh Rats! had fun mechanics to play around with, Lament was challenging and made me want to play it until I’ve beaten it and Memories of a Misty Seashore had incredibly well-led visual narrative.

Here are some photos from the playtest:
