Lament

Week 3

Posted on February 23, 2025

Statuses on Previous Week’s Tasks

  • Ejay -> Fixing room generation(cont) ✅
  • Riya -> Protagonist art, Enemy animations (attacking and getting hurt)🔄️
  • Josh -> Level layouts(cont) 🔄️
  • Ayse -> Fixing Dash mechanic (cont), menu UI🔄️
  • Xane -> Tile sets and sad tree animation & design redrafts 🔄️

Most of the tasks from the previous week have been completed such as:

  • Room Generation✅Camera movement system✅
  • Protagonist sprite art (Including some animations) and some enemy sprite art✅
  • Some level layouts for the room prefabs✅
  • Dashing mechanic has been fixed✅
  • Tile sets for the dungeon and the Tree of Sorrow sprite (Implemented in-game)✅

However there are still some finishing touches that must be made on last weeks tasks:

  • Complete protagonist animations and enemy animations
  • Level layouts for all room prefabs
  • Working in-game menu UI
  • Tree of Sorrow animation

Many of these tasks that still need to be completed are due to large volume of workload – such as completing animations for the protagonist and enemies or creating tilesets for the dungeon. However tasks were also delayed due to sickness, like menu UI and Level layouts.

Important Discussions

As our game will be playtested in the oncoming week, we had to discuss what we wanted to complete in time for the playtest. At first we kept our sights simple, wanting to test player movement in the dungeon, did the player move smoothly through the dungeon? does the artwork flow visually throughout the game?

However, once the camera was complete and the tilesets were added to the dungeons we decided that we wanted to implement the player combat so that we had more to playtest – which meant more potential for feedback.

Aims to Complete In Week 4

  • Ejay -> Enemy behaviours (Attacking and Movement and Health) for: Whispers and Wroughts
  • Riya -> Protagonist animations, Enemy animations (cont)
  • Josh -> Level layouts(cont)
  • Ayse -> Menu UI (cont), Player (Attacking and Health)
  • Xane -> Tree of Sorrow animation & Design redrafts (cont)
