The Game
Lament is a 2D roguelite game that explores the concept of the five stages of grief pertaining to anger, depression, denial, bargaining, and acceptance. The player takes control of a grieving being that is attempting to defeat the four griefs that have corrupted the world so that they may achieve acceptance. The game has a pixel-art aesthetic and leans into the combat and exploration aspect of the roguelite genre. Four of the stages of grief each have their own realm that the player traverses through, with different obstacles and enemies in each realm that will challenge the player.
Our Aims
Our group aims to create a vertical slice of Lament, specifically of the depression realm. It will contain procedurally generated rooms with different obstacles and enemies scattered throughout the realm, starting at the hub world before entering the depression realm and concluding with a boss fight and cutscene.
