One of my passions in life is geography, i studied a year doing Environmental Geoscience before switching to Games Design but my passion for raising awareness on issues that aren’t already widely spread around the world. The water crisis is significantly worse than what, I believe, most people believe it to be in the UK. Currently around the world out of all the water in the world only around 0.3-0.6% can actually be consumed by animals. 97% of the worlds ocean supply is ocean water and around 2.5-3% of water supply is frozen in our glaciers and snow in the poles. When you think of it in this way its not a surprise that places like Cape Town have in recent years called a national water crisis emergency and had to stop running tap water in houses. Globally we over consume and waste water, however, in upcoming years in even the most developed countries i believe we will see more shortages in water.
Already in places such as Mexico in their capital city they are seeing a submergence of their land by up to 9 inches each year the reason for this is comes down to over water usage. The main reason for the city sinking is because 50% of their water source each year comes from the underground reservoir under the city. We will see similar things happening all around the world the more that these underground reservoirs are exploited.
This also happens in less developed countries however, instead of over water usage there is a water shortage and an increase in water pollution and mismanagement. These documentaries go over all the different reasons and issues when it comes to water scarcity and water problems.
