Whilst Izzy made a start on the cafe exterior, I began to program the very beginning of the game (Violet’s Bedroom). Below is the final asset we decided on.

Just like I did with the cafe scene, I started scripting the scenes just before the optional code. I also added a black screen (stated as bg start in the script) as we weren’t sure what to show when Violet’s dreaming at this point. I then went ahead and input another audio for Violet’s alarm.

I showed the team and I’m pleased to say they’re happy with it!

We then discussed what we could have for Violet dreaming rather than just a black screen.
As Izzy was still working on the cafe exterior I couldn’t add the transition from the bedroom to the cafe quite yet, so I just went back to the first project with the first playtests contents and replaced the assets.

This character fits a lot better than the previous one.
Problem solving:
- Issue- The cafe exterior asset wasn’t ready while programming the bedroom scene, which blocked the transition between scenes.
- Impact- Unable to test or implement the full scene flow from Violet’s bedroom to the cafe.
- Solution- I skipped the transition for now and focused on polishing the bedroom scen. I also added a black screen for Violet dreaming (temporarily).
Next steps:
- Add cafe exterior scene
- Add phone assets
- Program the map for the bedroom to cafe scene if complete
