Week 2- Experimenting with Twine

This week we looked into project management and what tools we could use to keep track of our progress. Our team created a Trello board where we could have each team members names as well as a to do, currently doing, and completed list.

This made it a lot clearer to see what we were each expected to do throughout this semester.

So we could keep each other up-to-date we also created a Discord server with different channels.

Tasks completed this week

From week one I had completed my research on dating sim games mechanics so I decided to move on and start experimenting with some of the narrative, Izzy had written, on Twine and then eventually experiment with programming.

Twine Experiment

one of the core pillars in dating sims games is the dialogue system. It’s the main way players connect with characters and shape the story. As a team we wanted a dialogue system that can handle some branching dialogue based on player choices and for it to support character reactivity depending on choices.

Early on, using the narrative Izzy wrote, I experimented with Twine to test dialogue flows and map out different scenes. Twine’s structure made it easy for me to see how conversations could split and how the relationship system could be affected from the players choice.
