Inital Ideas

Initial Ideas

I used the logline concept to generate my initial ideas, which served as a great source of inspiration. The Rhythm platform originated from my date of birth, and I was particularly drawn to this initial concept. The notion of allowing players to influence the music itself could lead to compelling gameplay sequences that keep players engaged, and it has the potential for numerous future gameplay updates.

However, despite appreciating this initial idea, I find it quite challenging to develop the concept I envision. Furthermore, creating the ‘satisfying loop’ I have in mind will be very difficult to create.

Many of my ideas revolve around the concept of ‘platforming,’ and I am eager to explore this path further. However, I find it challenging to create a compelling story—one that would genuinely encourage players to explore the game world and desire more from the game and its environment. I plan to work extensively on this aspect throughout the project to gauge my growth.

I believe that an open-world platformer would offer me the most freedom to craft an engaging story while also allowing me to explore interesting game mechanics and puzzles. My goal is to design a non-traditional platformer with a unique twist—something that keeps players coming back to replay the puzzles.

1. Shadows of Memory  – Genre: Stealth-Puzzle

  • Players control a character and their shadow, which can mimic actions from the past 10 seconds to solve puzzles and avoid enemies.
  • Players can stay everywhere; however, their shadows are limited by light sources.

2. Tune In  – Genre: Rhythm-Adventure

  • Players solve mysteries by “tuning in” to unique sounds from objects that provide clues and trigger hidden events.
  • Can refer to ‘Cyberpunk 2077’ – brain dances

3. Hivemind  – Genre: Strategy-Survival

  • Players manage a colony of insects, directing individual units and the swarm to gather resources and defend against predators.

4. Mirrorworld  – Genre: Platformer-Puzzle

  • Players switch between light and dark dimensions, where physics differ, to navigate complex platforming puzzles.
  • Light dimension would function like usual, dark would be much more dependent and experimental

5. Ghost Writer  – Genre: Narrative-Puzzle

  • As a ghost in a haunted mansion, players guide characters’ actions by influencing their thoughts with carefully crafted phrases.
  • Think Scibblemauts with NPCs
