Game Concept

Shadows of Memory + Mirrorworld

In “Shadows of the Mirror,” players explore a world divided into two dimensions: the Real Realm and the Shadow Realm. In the Real Realm, players can move freely, while in the Shadow Realm, they are restricted to an “echo” of the actions they took in the previous 10 seconds. Each dimension presents obstacles, platforms, and paths which influence one another. This creates intricate, layered puzzles that require players to synchronize their movements between their current self in the Real Realm and the “shadow echo” in the Shadow Realm.’

Removing the time restriction on the shadow’s movements may be worth it, depending on playability.

The game world is ethereal, featuring lush greenery, glowing flora, and mystical ruins illuminated by soft, ambient light. The soundtrack is dynamic, incorporating forest sounds and evolving soft piano and flute themes as the world is gradually restored. Each island showcases a distinct visual theme connected to its ecosystem, characterized by unique colour schemes, creatures, and biomes, all contributing to its individual sense of identity.

Recall

As my project and character designs have progressed my project has transformed into The Shadows Within. This closely follows a similar concpet with the shadows, however, this all takes place in the same gameworld with a closer focus on ‘stealth’ rather than ‘speed’. This idea just felt ‘better’ across the board and more of my own rather than a culmination of other ideas I’ve picked from other games.
