In week 10 it was all about refining our pitching skills and talking 1-1 with Vanissa about how our GDDs are going. I found the feedback that Vanissa gave me very helpful as it was mostly just having to revisit certain areas of my GDD and making them more clear or adding a bit of additional info here and there.

Here was the little check list I made for myself, as you can see I’ve been able to check off quite a few the rest I will do over the following days.
Now into the lesson, we started with the overall theme of pitching our game ideas. This included:
- Elevator pitch
- Game loop
- Design pillars
- Audience
As I had already gotten my elevator pitch, game loop & design pillars and felt happy with them my main focus landed on doing some market research for my audience.

Here was some of the questions that I had to consider when doing my market research. All further research can be found here.

We’re talking to a core audience of cosy gamers who prefer that warm feeling of being able to relax and escape the world for a little while.
Players usually look out for the beautiful, scenic aesthetics that fill them with that warm fuzzy feelings of comfort.

I decided to fill out the empathy map to help me come up with some questions / statement that players might feel when playing or buying a game. This will help me to consider certain elements of my own game and how users might feel.
On our Thursday lesson is was pitching our GDD’s which unfortunately we ran out of time before I could pitch mine but it was really interesting to hear how other peoples games are going in a more in depth presentation.
