My mood boards for all of my characters + own images
Art Based – Secondary Research
When creating my main character (Emily) I came across an artist which did similar work to the artist I found for my environment / general aesthetics mood board. Her art work was beautiful yet simplistic which felt fitting for my game as even though I wanted the players to enjoy the art work of the game I didn’t want it to take away from the narrative of the game. My next step from here is to start coming up with the palettes as well as starting to come up with some ideas for how I want Emily to look.

Within week 3 a guest speaker called JAKe mentioned to think about the people around us and how you could pinch ideas from how the look and consider using them as a bases for our characters and so I did just that when creating the best friend (Robin) for the game I used a mixture characteristics/looks of a house mate that I’m currently living with and then my secondary school best friend and that is what gave me the initial idea of Robin.

My other two characters were the mum (Maria) and the younger sister (Poppy). Similar with the best friend I decided to use my own beautiful mum as my reference for my in game mum. I pinched her name for my character as well as some of her characteristics and the overall look of my own mum. For the younger sister Poppy I didn’t have my own reference but by just walking through Winchester I was able to keep an eye out for anything that caught my eye which could perhaps influence the design for her. Something that did was a teddy bear onesie which ended up being my starting point.

Last but not least I just had to include my own cat within my game. Pickle was my main source of reference for Maple my in game cat.
