✩Week 2 – Game Spaces & World Building✩

Week 2 is already here and this week we were looking at Game Spaces & World Building!

To start of it’s always good to get an idea of what we mean when we say what is a game world?

Gameworld’s are world representations designed with a particular gameplay in mind and characterized by game-system information that enables meaningful player interaction (Jorgensen, 2013)

A game world can be made up from any of the following components:

  • Culture & Technology
  • Geography & Nature
  • Supernatural & Belief systems
  • Politics & Population

Workshop

Within this workshop task we experimented with using a list of pre made phrases which we could chose from to then create and fill out our own world profile. Myself and the peer I worked with each took it in turn to chose a phrase for each section and to the side here you can see what we created. I actually really enjoyed this warm up as it really helped me come up with some fun ideas and not think too seriously. I’d say that this task will definitely aid me in being able to come up with my own brief summary of my game when I come to that stage.
