Week 1
And we’re back! This week, we were introduced to the new module and also what teams we were going to be put in! At the beginning of the week Sophie sent out a form asking us what games we’d want to participate in as well as inquiring about what professional roles we’d be interested in. When looking through the list of games I could choose from I was instantly drawn to Violet’s Dates, I loved the romance/horror style and felt like it would be a perfect match for me. To be entirely honest I was quite anxious before we found out our groups, as it can be quite nerve racking putting your trust into others. However, when I saw the game I was working on and the team I had been put with I was able to relax as I’d been paired up with an amazing group :)) I was also over the moon to have been put in charge of the environmental art as that’s something that I find therapeutic and also something I would love to improve on. I’m looking forward to be working on Violet’s Dates by Riya, and hopefully can do her game justice so it will be just as she imagined it. I will do this through the game’s narrative and my environmental artwork.

On Thursday we moved forward with our group project, where Sophie lead the lesson and explained how we needed to write down all the tasks that we feel will be within our games and then delegate roles etc. Sophie was extremely helpful when talking to my group and I found that it made me feel more at ease and less overwhelmed.
Here was our little brainstorm of all the components we feel are necessary for our game. Any with a little star next to can be disregarded if we run out of time.

To help me not get overwhelmed I decided it would be best for me to set mini goals/tasks that I would like to try throughout the week. If I was able to complete them then I could tick them off and any that I could not achieve within the week would become my top priority for the next week. I was happy with what I could achieve these past two weeks especially because I ended up having a slight personal issue which caused me to not give my full attention or at least as much as I wanted.

Setting Up
