As the term is coming to an end I want to take the time to reflect back on all that I have completed this semester. This semester has flown by so quickly and sometimes it’s hard to take it all in. This semester I was tasked the role of the environmental artist, which I was excited but nerves about as I’m not overly confident within my artistic capabilities and with the added pressure of having a team rely on you can be pretty stressful, but alas I was able to produce multiple pieces that I am happy with. One of the most important takeaways from this project is my reconnection with the love of narrative design! Being in charge of writing the narrative made me remember how much I love creating story’s, which lead me to having a conversation with Sophie who since has been really supportive in sending me over helpful information whilst also giving me writing tasks so that I can gain some experience for what it might be like in the industry. Overall, she has made me gain confidence within myself again which I really appreciate as I feel it can be very easy to lose confidence in yourself ever now and then.
Other things I have learnt over this semester is that not all critiques means that what I have done is bad, as I find I tend to take things quite to heart which can be understandable when you are creating art as it becomes something personal to you. But over this project I have tried to welcome feedback more into my work and just understand that the feedback given is so I am able to produce something to the best of my capabilities.
Overall, I’m very proud of myself this year as I was able to achieve 85/100 (first) for my first semester and look forward to how I’ve done this semester as I’ve enjoyed building upon my teamwork, communication, time management and many more skills that I have been able to develop throughout year 2!
