Dev Week 12

This entire week I spent cramming and tweaking work, both in the game and on my blog, to make my submission the best it could be – adding and texturing any final assets, and making a reflection on the mirror in the living room. I paid particular attention to my development and linking my research on my blog, since I know those were my weaknesses pointed out in Week 7, and finished up the team blog.

Reflecting back on this whole project, I’m proud of what I managed to achieve. My enthusiasm for the project kept mounting the more we fleshed out, and I recognise, after watching the other game developments, that it’s in no small part to my team. On the whole, we all got along, we communicated well, and we were all dedicated to making an excellent and fun game. It’s the most functional team I’ve ever been a part of, and we plan to go forward on Oh, Rats! over the summer to make a short demo.

If anything, I’m only a bit disappointed in myself, as I feel like I could have done just a bit more. I had a two week slump over the whitebox when I didn’t like the direction it was going that impacted the project immensely, and not everything I created was able to be implemented to the game. Overall, I had a lot more ambition than I was able to actualise – notwithstanding the occassional merge conflict that set me back hours of work.
