Overview:
Mood + Theme: Dark, gritty, dystopian.
Colour Palette: Moody and grey with blue tones.
Style: Realistic retro-futurism reminiscent of cyberpunk.
Environment:
The environment is eerie and devoid of fellow human life, but cluttered with pipes, wiring, boilers, and engineering equipment to hide behind. Clues hinting what level you’re on and where specific rooms are should be displayed on signage, as if this place was once populated. Posters with camera’s and eye imagery should be littered about about the importance of “maintaining professionalism in the workplace”,
Level Design Inspiration: (taken from Utopia Syndrome and Metal Gear Sonic 2)

The Control Panel/Monitor Room
*design subject to change
3D assets and art should be reflective of a retro-futuristic look, with older, stylised technology taking precedent over sleek and sharp ones. Monitors should be boxy and clunky – older models.

Characters:
PARANOIA features only two characters at a time – a protagonist that the player controls, and an antagonist they play against. They will largely look the same, sporting the same clothes and upgrades as the facility breeds them from the same genes – adding to the horror aspect.
Protagonist:
*design subject to changes

The player character is a faceless avatar; a blank slate of human experimentation built in a lab. Their in-game purpose is to be bred for technological compatibility and surveillence, with each new generation having to pass the Panopticon Test to prove their genes. As such they are outfitted in an orange jumpsuit to hinder them in the test, and their skin can hold wires and tech upgrades.
