Gameplay
PARANOIA is a first-person perspective stealth 3D game designed to make the player feel as paranoid as possible, a feeling that is reinforced through play. The gameplay itself is split into three phases: Ascend, Deter, and Escape.
FIRST PHASE GAMEPLAY
Story Objective:
- Ascend the tower panopticon and kill the Watcher.
Play Objectives:
- Avoid being seen by the cameras by either hiding or destroying lenses
- Avoid trapped rooms
Examples of traps:
- If seen by a camera inside a vent, poisonous gas will be emitted, so you’ll have to leave the vent before it seals
- If seen by a camera over a steel bridge, it will suddenly collapse and kill you, unless you’re close enough to jump for a ledge.

SECOND PHASE GAMEPLAY
Story Objective:
- Deter people away from your room at the top of the tower
- Remove your head from the monitor
Play Objectives:
- Shuffle rooms to head off or trap oncoming players. Room traps can only be activated once, and the player has a limited supply of ventilation gas.
- Remove the monitor from your head by using pieces of equipment around you. However the more equipment that’s used, the more limited your control over the panopticon
- Create an escape route for once you have managed to remove the monitor

THIRD PHASE GAMEPLAY
Story Objective:
- Escape the Panopticon
Play Objectives:
- Use your route to escape the facility.
- Avoid/destroy cameras, as without you in the monitor room, the next Watcher will quickly take control
