Art and Video

Overall Goals

The envisioned art style for ‘Finding Astraios’ is an art style that blends both a comic futuristic feel with a mysterious and ethereal atmosphere.

Solace has a simplistic design inspired by hazmat suits to get a similar feel to the eerie atmosphere like in the backrooms. In contrast to the detailed and realistic feel of the game world and environment, Solace would have a simplistic look to further allow that feeling of alienation and isolation. Although the player will be playing in first person they will experience this through subtle reflections throughout the game.

On the contrary to Solace, the worlds environment will have a completely different theme, from the futuristic and realistic space station to the otherworldly and ethereal black hole. The space station will be a futuristic construct visually made of mostly metal, detailed and complicated exterior with a dark and in depth interior. ‘Dead Space’ EA’s sc-fi game is being used as reference for the dark and futuristic art style of the ships interior, combining a quiet but also detailed look. The blackhole will be visible from most parts of the station and will be a massive factor in adding to the atmosphere. Its immense size and ethereal look will be captivating to the player, in both a metaphorical and literal sense.
