Week 2: First Sprint

Week 2 me and my team began making tasks for ourselves, this was our first sprint which would carry on every week until we finish the game. We decided to document our sprints and tasks on Git hub backlog since it’s interface is made to plan and track project tasks.

Git hubs backlog is really helpful and useful since you can view the progress of each of your members tasks.

For the first sprint I was tasked to create a grey box for our prototype and get started on the rat model.

Greyboxing:

Indiana made a layout for our house, we would only be doing the living room an kitchen since the whole house would take too long.

Using pro builder on unity 3d I made a really simple grey box for our game, this would be a start to the prototype and will definitely be changed along the way as we think more about platforming and character movement.

Rat model:

I began making a low poly rat with a couple references.

Once I made a simple low poly model of the rat I took it to my team for some feedback. Me and my team decided on some changes to improve the look of the rat by sharpening the face, rounding the ears and thickening the legs.

With just a couple changes the model improved a lot.

You can find the whole process of creating the rat model on this link: https://year2.wsagames.com/hm3g23/rat-model/

Week 2 ended by me and parker making some changes to the greyboxing, and parker adding his movement and camera code to a cube which would act as our rat for now. We had to scale the greyboxing down since all the dimensions were off scale. This proved to be slightly difficult since neither me or parker was very proficient with probuilder on unity.
