As Lament is a 2D, Rogue-lite Dungeon game, those are the kind of games I will be researching
The games I have researched include: The Binding of Isaac, Hades, Moonlighter, Cult of the Lamb

Dungeon Gameplay
All of these games have extremely similar core gameplay especially when it comes to the dungeons, the main takeaways I have from researching the gameplay of these games is:
- Varying enemies in the dungeons
- The layouts of the dungeons change every time the player enters them
- However, all of the rooms themselves are the same but are just randomly chosen from a list
- The player is able to upgrade the player character
- Whether it be from permanent upgrades, or per-run upgrades
- The rooms have different obstacles besides enemies, potential obstacles could be:
- Spikes that deal damage to the player
- Walls that block player movement
- Destructible walls, boxes, rocks etc.
- Moving obstacles that deal damage
- Saw blade
- Moving Axes
- Turrets
- The player can pick up items that heal them
- The player is only able to leave a room upon defeating all the enemies
