Welcome to my Year 2, Semester 1 profile. You will find all my work for my game, Oh, Rats!

Background Info:

I’m interested in the Old Web (Web 1.0/2.0), 2000s aesthetics and subcultures, and low-poly graphics reminiscent of PS1/2 graphics. I like exciting colours, like neon and “tacky” ones. I’m not interested in hyper-realism, at least for this game idea. I have a 3D modelling and Art background which I will utilise throughout this semester.

This semester, I want to focus on learning the skills to bring my ideas to life, such as creating a 3D model of a Rat and a Human character and posing them to simulate the game world.

Brief:

‘You will be making a Games Design Document (GDD) of a digital game. This should be included in your blog (WordPress). You should use WordPress for your documentation and for submitting your GDD.’

Included in this blog: A comprehensive GDD with an Overview, Major & Minor Foci, Game Pillars, Story, Gameplay, Mechanics, Art bible, Sound bible, Platform specification and Marketing.

Summary of the Blog:

  • Weekly Summaries: These are tasks I’ve completed in class each week. They are not necessarily related to my game but help me think outside the box and generate ideas.
  • Research: These help me formulate what I want to achieve in the game and inspirations relating to my idea.
  • Ideation and Development: A section where I develop my game further, delving into certain sections of the game and how to make it streamlined for the player.
  • GDD: A finalised version of my GDD.
  • Bibliography: Any citations of media that I’ve quoted.

Enjoy your stay!
