Final Reflections
With the final week looming over us, I want to reflect on my journey with Kinetic Panic!. My main role was meant to be the character artist, a role which encompasses 2D and 3d art, which I feel that I have been decent at doing. I feel that I’ve been really strong at using my art programs: Paint Tool SAI 2 and Photoshop. I also feel that I’ve grown in these programs, so I’m happy I got to use them more. However, during this project, I also had to take on a lot of additional tasks that weren’t originally a part of my main role. For example, I became a narrative writer and music producer. These are skills that I still need some practice in, but I was happy to contribute to the group.
This semester has definitely taught me that being an all-rounder can be valuable to your team (and yourself!). I’ve also learnt how much I like being able to take on a lot of different tasks. I’ve been referring to myself as a “Jack of all Trades”, which is a title I am starting to embrace from now on. I definitely feel more comfortable doing 3d art than 2D, Music, and narrative design, but I’d like to continue to hone all of these skills. I applied what I have learned in Semester 1 to this Semester as well, continuing to push myself each week and do what I can.
Kinetic Panic! as a game is really strong and a great concept, and with refining, I could see it being released on Steam or itch. I would be willing to help out from time to time with further development if more art and music are required. I had a lot of fun working on this game!
Thank you for joining me!
