Week 10 was spent correcting and preparing for week 11’s play test. My main task that week was creating the Narrative / Visual Novel in Inky. You can find this here.
For our vertical slice, which you can see what we aspired for in Week 1, we didn’t end up implementing everything. The work wasn’t organised the best and with the deadline looming over us, we decided to do what we could and finish out main tasks. I have finished all my tasks including: making the character, drawing concept art for the character and the music.
🟢 = Made and Implemented
🟠= Made, but unimplemented
🔴 = Unmade
Final Vertical Slice
- Hub World to go into the level (made but unimplemented) ðŸŸ
- 1 Level (2 if possible), Rooftop level (One level only) ðŸŸ
- Tutorial at the beginning (written like a visual novel or 3D) – Done like Visual Novel 🟢
- Music for the level (Completed) 🟢
- Full ability (Completed) 🟢
- UI to select ability (Not implemented) 🔴
The Playtest
For the actual playtest, I would say this was quite successful. Kinetic Panic was a hit, and a lot of people enjoyed it a lot. The team received both valid feedback, praise and criticism, which will help us further our game as we prepare for the final week of our project. There are a few people listed below who played our game.

The Testers
- Xane – Found the game okay and the levels good, found controls a bit confusing
- Year 3 – controls smoother than before, glad camera doesn’t bug out, finds the game fun
- Indi – Really good, like the mechanics bc they’re slippery but good. Encourage the player to experiment with mechanics
- Rosie – Found the rolling fun, sometimes the controls where you make things move don’t work, sometimes the objects didn’t go up when they were supposed to, could have been a bit simpler. If the backgrounds made more sense would be better, as she didn’t fully understand what was going on. If it were set in reality, she could piece it together. Not just like rocks in the sky, but add context to why things were placed like that. Wasn’t sure on the goal, but was enjoying herself. The transition to the new level was epic.
- Gabby – the original vision was to have it on the rooftops, and maybe we should have stuck with that. Maybe alternate levels would be cool. She likes the background and the music too
- Parker – it would be easier if it were E, then left click and not the other way round. Finds the gravity ability cool. Overall, it was good. Needs more of a dense world and more things to do where you can mess around with it; it would be better.
Bonus Content
These are some stickers I made with the poster graphics and title. Unfortunately, the printer was malfunctioning, but I still gave some to my friends who wanted it!
