Week 1 – Brainstorming. . . (again!)

Sophie, our in-house designer, lead this session and had a lot of useful, and harsh (but necessary), advice for the game planning and delegation. I started with this simple iteration of the task management, but she said it wasn’t detailed enough, which now looking back in hindsight, I agree with. Therefore the first iteration of the task setting was scrapped.

Within 10 minutes, we started working on a new sheet to plan out tasks, we elaborated on each task to make it clearer what we were doing. This iteration felt way more clearer, to the approval of Sophie (even though there was still a lot more to be added). Nevertheless, I feel happy with this current iteration, and I feel like I know what I’m doing.

Vertical slice:

  • Hub World to go into the level
  • 1 Level (2 if possible), Rooftop level
  • Tutorial at the beginning (written like a visual novel or 3D)
  • Full music for the level
  • Full ability
  • UI to select ability

Later today, we had a 2pm meeting which we delegate all of the tasks we need to do for this project. We made a discord server with different sections of the server pertaining to different tasks. Since I’m a character designer, my tasks will be art oriented. Therefore I’ll be focusing on the 2D and 3D art of the characters.

My overall tasks are:

  • Research art style
  • Sketch / Create Concept Art for character
  • Create 3D models for ETA + first God (Gravity)
  • Simple animation (God Floating)
