Week Three

Posted on

  • Team Work

This week we focused more into teamwork, trying to better understand our collaborative strengths and weaknesses. Ironically I was not able to come in during this week as I’ve been dealing with personal medical issues and had to go the doctor, luckily for me my team communicated well through discord and we were able to discuss some of these concepts on there!

What are my struggles?

I try to be self aware when it comes to my personal challenges, and undoubtedly time management has always been one of my biggest downfalls. Yet because i am fully aware that this has the ability to impact not only my work but that of my teams it is something I’ve been striving to manage better during this project. One strategy that i find to be working is breaking larger more intimidating tasks down into smaller, more manageable ones. So far this approach has helped me to better distribute my workload and reduce the sense of constantly being overwhelmed. I aim to remain consistent with this, it is something that is working for me currently and i feel as though will help through the rest of the project.

what are my strengths?

Once invested in a project i tend to build my momentum quite quickly. I also find that is can grasp new skills and concepts relatively quickly within the same manner when it something i am able to focus upon. Honestly this might just be an aspect of adhd but none the less my ability to hyperfixate on a subject can be an extremely useful tool. However, despite this i do often find myself doubting the quality of my work or my understanding as i try to learn new concepts to a high standard. Obviously this is something I am going to have to strive past for this project and just learn to trust in my abilities to learn a new concept.

I also do very much so like working within teams, I like being able to receive feedback from someone also invested within the same project. I feel this can be much more helpful then the usual feedback I get from my friends and peers.

For this project our main form of communication so far has been through discord, this is a format I love being able to communicate within as the program itself has built in subsections for different things or topics we might be discussing for this project!

This week i also started working on visual prototypes for the games title screen as i had a lot of time at home being sick to develop on this! In the spirit of honestly I am not yet happy with how they look but at least i know its a move towards the right direction.
