UI/UX design refers to how the user interacts with the game and how it communicates information back to the player.
UI is about visual elements that the player will interact with to navigate the game, such as:
- menus
- buttons
- HUD – Health, minimaps, resources, etc
- Inventories
- Dialogue Boxes
- Icons and tip-popups
The goal of a UI designer is to create an interface that is clear, consistent and put together, and has an easy-to-use design.
UX is about the user experience of the player. How they interact with the game and the ease of use feature.
- Flow and ease of use, efficient navigation
- Intuitive controls that respond well
- Clarity of goals the player must achieve
- Player feedback
- accessibility
- and minimising the frustration the player encounters
The main goal for a UX designer is to ensure the game feels smooth, easy to understand and enjoyable during the players’ interactions.
The UX links with everything within the game, Anytime we get negative feedback, I must delegate tasks to others to help fix this issue to create an enjoyable experience.
